Found mostly in the Brazilian Amazon forest, acai berries have been used for centuries by many tribes for medicinal purposes. Easily recognizable for their dark purple colouring and grape like figure, acai berries consist of 90% seed and 10% pulp.
With such a minimal amount of flesh to use from each berry, it is easily understandable why this fruit has to be harvested carefully. Harvested too widely, and this nutritious fruit could be made extinct.
To eat this fruit though is said to be an enlightening experience, offering a mixture of flavorous resembling numerous fruits and a hint of chocolate.
